On April 17, the School of Business, Jiangnan University a farewell ceremony for the junior students in the Business Administration Sino-foreign cooperative program. The event took place at the China Huishan Clay Figurine Museum in Wuxi. Attendees included Feng Haoyue, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department of Jiangnan University; Liu Changqing, Party Secretary of the School of Business; Pu Xujin, Dean of the School; Zheng Dandan, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of the School; Zhao Hailei, faculty representative; Liu Shujiao, Secretary of International Affairs; Boris Kolar from the Department of Marketing and Sarah Bartfeld from the Department of Management at Monash Business School; parent representative Chen Yanna; as well as all the Junior students in the program. The ceremony was bilingually hosted in Chinese and English by Liang Jiahui and Li Xiangting.
In his address, Dean Pu Xujin extended sincere congratulations to the students embarking on their overseas academic journey. He noted that the joint program between Jiangnan University and Monash University serves as a key platform for advancing international collaboration and has become a hallmark of the School’s talent cultivation. He encouraged students to pursue their dreams with courage on the global stage and to move forward with confidence, composure, and resilience.
Boris Kolar commended the achievements of the partnership and expressed his hope that both institutions would continue to place student development at the core while expanding collaboration in academic exchange and research, thereby promoting the high-quality development of the joint programme. Sarah Bartfeld reflected on her engaging classroom experiences with the students, praised the cultural vibrancy of Wuxi, and introduced the comprehensive academic and pastoral support that students will receive upon arrival at Monash.
Faculty representative, Zhao Hailei encouraged students to integrate the strengths and innovative spirit of both institutions as they transition from Jiangnan to Melbourne. She urged them to find their place in a diverse global environment, embrace “negative externalities,” create “positive externalities,” and become “value investors” through cross-cultural practice.
Parent representative Chen Yanna expressed her sincere gratitude to the School’s faculty, noting that Jiangnan University’s strong academic foundation and the dual-degree model have provided students with a solid base for future development. She encouraged students to remain grounded, pursue their aspirations with determination, broaden their horizons, and strive for excellence during their studies abroad.
Zhang Enhao from Class 2302, speaking on behalf of all students, extended heartfelt thanks to the dedicated faculty and conveyed best wishes to his peers. He expressed appreciation for the international platform provided by the University, which enabled students to engage with outstanding faculty from Monash University and gain valuable academic and intercultural experiences. He remarked that the students would now set sail from Jiangnan University toward a broader global stage.
As the students prepare to depart, the School presented each student with a personalized alumni badge bearing their name, symbolizing the University’s enduring support and best wishes. Monash University also prepared heartfelt welcome letters for each student, conveying its anticipation and care. During the ceremony, Liu Changqing and Pu Xujin presented the commemorative badges, while Boris Kolar and Sarah Bartfeld distributed the welcome letters.
Following the ceremony, faculty and students visited the China Huishan Clay Figurine Museum, where they experienced the charm of intangible cultural heritage through lifelike clay sculptures and hands-on crafting activities. This immersive experience deepened their appreciation of Wuxi’s cultural heritage and fostered a stronger sense of cultural identity and confidence.
This farewell ceremony was specially designed for students of the Sino-foreign cooperative Business Administration program aiming to convey the University’s care and support while strengthening students’ sense of belonging and pride. Looking ahead, the School will continue to enhance the program’s quality and international impact, striving to develop it into a flagship model of international education and contribute to China’s broader strategy of educational opening-up.
